Prayer Asking For God’s Wisdom

Father God,

I want to please You. I want to honor You and bring glory to Your name. I realize that I need the wisdom to have a victorious Christian life. Your Word says that if any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God. So, today, I ask for wisdom to keep me on the right path and illuminate my every step.

Your wisdom is a great treasure. Your Word says wisdom is more precious than gold. I need it more than anything to help me make the right choices. Lord, I pray I won’t go to the left or the right without your guidance. May I trust in you with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding. Thank you for making my paths straight.

Help me wisely use the resources You’ve given me, too. The world offers much advice about using our resources, but I want to follow the wise counsel of your Word. I want to make wise financial decisions, manage the resources I have on hand to generously bless others, and invest money and things for Your use and glory. Give me the wisdom to be a good steward of all You supply.

Help me to view life from Your perspective. May I focus on the things above, not things on this earth. I know I have an enemy who wants to deceive and confuse me, so please instruct me and give me a heart for Your wisdom—a growing desire for understanding and insight.

Dear God, we are Your handiwork, created for Your pleasure, and You have ordained daily work for each of us. Before the foundation of the world, You also prepared good works for us to do. Give me wisdom as I work in my home, neighborhood, job, or wherever You call me to serve daily.

Please teach me to clothe myself with Christlike compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, peace, and mercy. Please show me how to encourage others, build them up, and offer gracious hospitality. Give me a tender heart to offer forgiveness, grace, and mercy.

May my conversation always be full of grace, seasoned with salt, so I may know how to answer everyone. I pray that my words will always be a fountain of wisdom used to encourage others. But when necessary, teach me how to admonish those I love—speaking truth into their lives with compassion, always aiming to help and never hurt. Give me clear discernment to know when to use restraint and hold my tongue.

I pray that You give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Please give me a mouth filled with wisdom, which none of my adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. Lord, send wise counselors to guide me and keep me from falling.

Teach me Your truth, and may the truth set me free from anything that could entangle me or hold me in bondage. I pray that I am not deceived by anyone, especially the enemy, the thief, who comes only to steal and kill and destroy. Thank you for your wisdom so I don’t get lost and not led astray.

Lord, thank you for your wisdom and Word that is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. You are my shepherd; I shall not want. At no time will I be broke or bankrupt. I will always have everything I need. Your Word says, blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain of wisdom is better than gain from silver and gold. Thank you for divine wisdom that leads to an abundant life.

Father God, I seek and trust You for direction in every decision and endeavor I take. Lead me, Father.
